All students tomorrow Friday January 25th we will be hosting our 2nd annual Career Day. Students will need to report promptly to their first period where you will check in and receive a hall pass to a designated classroom to get more informed about your career choice. Please be courteous and respectful to our speakers.

Attention SENIORS: changes to MJC dates. MJC will not be here for the assessment/advisor workshop on Tues. Jan. 29th, it has been changed to Thurs, March 14 and the Ed Plan workshop has been changed from Tues. Feb. 5th to Thurs. March 28th.  If you have any questions contact Ms. S in the counseling center.

Seniors you should’ve gotten your name verification form for your diploma in your Econ or Civics classes, if you don’t have civic/econ stop by the office to pick up your form. Make sure the spelling is correct and it is your legal name, reprints of diplomas are $25.00. Sign and have parents sign if under 18, and return by 01-31

Juniors & Seniors interested in applying for an 8 week paid internship this summer, please come pick up a flyer in the counseling center. Applications are due February 1, 2019 so don’t wait!  

Track- If you were not able to make the meeting make sure you see Mr. Bower in room 34 or Mr. Anserlian in room 2 to get the paperwork and sign up. There are more copies for those who did not receive one.

PSAT TEST- Sophomores and Freshmen tests are on sale now in the counseling center. SOPHOMORE test date is Tuesday Feb. 26, 2019 and the cost is $16  FRESHMAN test date is Thursday Feb. 28, 2019 and the cost is $11.

12th graders attention!  If you missed EHS Financial Aid Night and you need help filling out and submitting your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Calif. Dream Act Application (CADAA), MJC is available to help Mon-Fri from 8am-6pm.  Locations at both campuses: East Campus, Student Services Building West Campus, Yosemite Hall

Senior ads in the yearbook will be available for online sales until 3pm on February 28.  They will not be available to purchase online after that, but may still be available to purchase with cash or checks at the school.  Inquire with Mrs. Headley for purchases after February 28.

The Lions Club speaking contest is February 7. There is only 1 spot available. Who wants it?  The last day to sign up is January 30 (or until all spots are full).

Film Club: We will be taking our club photo on today January 24, during lunch in the theater. See Mr. T or one of the club officers if you plan on being in the photo.

Did you know scholarship applications will only be accepted before school and during lunch?  This is for the scholarships that you turn in directly to the ASB office.  There are no exceptions to this, so please be sure you turn them in on time…we don’t want you to miss any opportunities.

Did you attend Van Allen School for at least 3 years?  If so, the Sandy Anderson scholarship is now open and available to you!  It is due March 12.  Get more information from the bulletin boards, in Naviance, or ask Mrs. Nunes in the ASB office.

Planning on being a teacher?  The California Retired Teachers Association is offering scholarships.  See Mrs. Nunes in the ASB office to get an application.  They are due to ASB on February 15.

National Defense Transportation Association is offering 3 different types of scholarships: General Chapter Scholarships – preference given to those in transportation and/or logistics related fields. Military Affliation Scholarships – awarded to those who have served or are serving in the military. Vocational Scholarships – open to those who plan to enroll in vocational training institutes.  Don’t be misled by the name of these scholarships. Transportation related fields include air, sea, motor and rail, communications, marketing, sales, advertising, computer technicians, insurance, employee benefits, health care, security, first-responders including police, EMT’s, paramedics, mechanics, technicians, those who build trucks, planes, ships, rail cars, dispatchers, warehouse persons, load planners, drivers, pilots, rail personnel, Engineers, road construction, air traffic controllers, rail construction, teachers and educators.  Please get the application from Mrs. Nunes in the ASB office.

Speech Contest: The Escalon Sunrise Rotary will be holding its annual speech contest on Thursday, January 31st in the EHS cafeteria at 7 am. This year’s topic is “Be the Inspiration” and the length of each speech should be 5 minutes. Cash prizes are $75, $100 and $125 and they will be awarded to the top students. Any interested student can pick up more info from Mrs. Baldwin in room 30.

CSF applications are due to Mr. Bower in Room 34 by Friday February 1st. Remember, you must apply each semester.
