In order to achieve the mission of Escalon High School, the following goals have been adopted for the 2009-10 school year:
1. Continue to refine and make more explicit the presence of the state standards in each content area.
a. Daily lessons will clearly identify the learning objective of the day.
b. Standards posters will be displayed in each classroom.
c. Use of the CST blueprints in curriculum planning.
2. Use standards aligned benchmark assessments and pacing guides in all core content classes.
3. Provide extended student support for underperforming students
a. Revise reading period to provide support for struggling students in all content areas, with emphasis on English and math.
b. Maintain regular parent/guardian contact
4. Continue to develop school-wide assessment and presentation criteria for use in all content areas (e.g. Style Guides, writing process, writing rubrics, etc.)
a. Each department will continue to refine and develop common assessments/benchmarks for all classes.
b. Department chairs develop common curricular formats.
5. Analyze data to plan for instructional needs using SchoolPlan, selected department criteria and other student performance measures.
a. Each department, using the “Data Teams” model, will select and review student performance criteria within each course offering.
b. Develop data base targeting key students for intervention.
c. Employ highly effective, research-based instruction to all students.
6. Increase student participation in intra- and extra- curricular school activities.
7. Increase the use of relevant technology to each content area.
a. Provide more relevant technology training opportunities for instructional staff.
